Deines Cultural Center
The Diamond W Wranglers (previously the Prairie Rose Wranglers), formed in 1999 to entertain at the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Supper in Wichita. They sing classic cowboy trail songs and original music. The tight harmonies and humor of the Wranglers make a show the whole family will enjoy. Members of the group include Jim Farrell, Stu Stuart, Orin Friesen and Steve Crawford.
Don Rowlison, curator of Cottonwood Ranch near Studley enhances the show with a look at the life of a trail drover in “Out of the Bedroll” during intermission.

Volga German musicians Garry Batt and Johnny Shwien both former members of Dutchmasters, Russell’s original polka band will talk about the history of the band, it’s connection with Paul Winegard and the Deines’, the tradition of Hochzeit and perform on dulcimer, accordion, and trombone.

Tom Lewis, professor of English and Humanities at Oklahoma Panhandle State University speaks
about folk hero Wooy Guthrie, an Oklahoma songwriter, hobo, and philospher. This Land is Your Land, So Long it's been Good to Know You, and many other songs struck a chord with the dispossessed and downtrodden in the 1940s. Discover Guthrie's wit, wisdom, and sometimes radical views during this program. Audio and handouts.

| Beginnng in 2004, the Deines Cultural Center co-hosted the Flatland Blues Festival in Russell, Kansas. This popular music festival became a biennial event in 2006, with this year's American Roots Festival scheduled for May 31, 2008 at four different venues in Downtown Russell. From 11 A.M. to 11:30 P.M. listen, dance and celebrate the music of Kansas, including bluegrass, country, rock, blues and more.

The Riverbend Five Dixieland Band plays music from various periods of early jazz and Dixieland, taking the listener on a journey through the boisterous swinging era of early jazz music with historical notes and standard music of the era.
Riverbend Five Dixieland Band is comprised of musicians from the city band of Great Bend:
- Joe Boley, trombone, retired band director from the Great Bend school system, has extensive experience playing with groups in the area.
- JB Webster, trumpet, retired Barton County Community College band director, performed with many dance bands in Hays, groups in Great Bend and other communities.
- Kurtis Koch, percussion, band director at Great Bend Middle School and director of the Great Bend City Band, is a graduate of Russell High School.
- Jeff Underwood, brass and electric bass, graduated from Kansas University with a music teaching degree, played with many band organizations in the Lawrence,Kansas and Great Bend area.
- Charlie Moyers, saxophone and clarinet, assistant band director for Great Bend USD 428, played professionally with several name bands and shares his talents by performing with many ensembles in the area.
- Steve Lueth, piano, former Russell High School band director, is now the band director at Barton County Community College.
