Exhibit: June 6 - June 30, 2010
Reception: Sunday, June 6, 2-4 pm
Local Color, the annual Russell Area Artists Exhibit will be at the Deines Cultural Center from June 6 through June 30, 2010. The opening reception is Sunday, June 6, from 2:00 -4:00 pm.
Works in oil and acrylics, pastels, ceramics, and mixed media pieces will be shown from over thirty-five different Russell area artists from within a 60-mile radius.
Exhibiting artists from Russell include Jackie Burton, Suzanne Canar, Rena Detrixhe, Edna Giebler, Thelma Hutchinson, Jerry and Lucy Miller, Ralph and Doloris Pederson, and Rocky Yoder.
Artists Kathy Gregory, Assaria, Kevin Lundy, Gordon Mai and Mark Swiderski, Wilson have contributed work, along with Tess Dunkel-McKnight from Luray. Jim Schiels and Eric Abraham, Lucas are exhibiting, as well as Roger Kneller, Albert; Jan Schoen, Cawker City and Joyce Seevers Benedick and Sharon Sahlfeld from Beloit.
Artists from Great Bend that will be showing in “Local Color” include Joyce Barker, Char Brown, Diane Engle, Barton Hoar and Jay Knudson.
Hays artists Dale FIcken, Mike Gross, Jack Logan, John Thorns are showing their work along with Lawrence Robl, Ellsworth; Joyce Seevers Benedick, Beloit; and Brandy Miner, Barbara Wilson and Larry Zvolanek from Osborne.
Ceramists Steve Carney, Hoisington and Kent Thompson, Osborne have pottery in the show. Thompson is also exhibiting a watercolor painting.
The Deines Cultural Center is located at 820 North Main in Russell, admission is free and the Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 12:30- 5:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday 1:00 –5:00. The Center is accessible to those with disabilities.
