2009 Auction and Exhibit
Smoky Hills Public Television Signature Auction, Exhibit and Reception
February 22 - March 12, 2009
Reception: February 22, 2 - 4 pm

Smoky Hills Public Television will kick off its 2009 Signature Auction activities Sunday, February 22, with the opening of its Auction collection exhibit at the Deines Cultural Center in Russell.

There will be a reception, open to the public, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. that day.

The collection will be on display at the Deines Center through Sunday, March 12, during the Center’s regular hours, 12:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Smoky Hills’ 2009 Signature Auction will be held April 17-19 at The Mall in Hays with all of the festivities broadcast live. All proceeds from the Auction go to benefit the station.

The theme for the 2009 Signature Auction is “It’s A Celebration,” according to Jayne Heller, Smoky Hills’ director of development.

“And that’s exactly what we want it to be,” Heller explained, “A celebration of the best of Kansas.”

“The 2009 Signature Auction will feature fine art, folk art, antiques, furniture, jewelry, sports tickets, travel packages, and what we’re calling Kansas adventures,” Heller continued, “We’re very excited about it.”

“The exhibit at the Deines Center is a great opportunity for the public to view many of the items which will be up for sale in this auction,” Heller added

Visitors to the exhibit also can sign up for an Auction bidder number and place pre-Auction bids on the various items. Detailed information, including a photo gallery, on most of the Auction items will be available on the station’s web site, www.shptv.org, at a later date.

“The Signature Auction is one of the station’s biggest and most popular fundraising events,” Heller noted, “We are extremely grateful to the individuals, businesses and organizations that have donated to this year’s Signature Auction and over the years.”

“We want to encourage everyone to visit the Auction exhibit at the Deines Center and get an up-close look at many of the great items that have been donated,” Heller continued, “And then be ready to bid high and bid often during the Auction itself.”

Following the exhibit at the Deines Center, Smoky Hills’ Auction collection will move to The Mall at Hays, where it will be on display March 20 through April 11.
