An Exhibit of Photography by David Lee Reineke
November 2 - December 2008
Opening: 2 - 4 PM on Sunday, November 2, 2008
Cruise-In during Opening Reception
Peace Happens is an exhibit of photography by David Lee Reineke. The Colorado-based artist will be in attendance when the show opens with an artist’s reception from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, November 2nd. The exhibit continues through December.
David Reineke was first introduced to a camera at the age of four by his mother when they took walks on the family tobacco farm in Platte County, Missouri, where he was born. She drew his visual attention to the simple details before them, cultivating his eye and appreciation for natural subjects, in both panoramic and close-up scales. His interest in the gravity between form, light and space has remained over the years.
Reineke says, "My approach to photography is supported on the principal values of the world’s natural scenery. I believe in people, the simple aspects of life, and man’s relationship to the environment."

A former visual arts teacher, Reineke took up photography to stockpile ideas to transform into other visual mediums. His collection of photo images and continued interest in photography are still on the rise.
David Reineke and his wife, Jan, now reside in a log home on the West Fork of the Dolores River located in the San Juan National Forest near Stoner, Colorado.

David chose “Geneva Belle”, his mother’s name, for his company, Geneva Belle Art Productions. David remembers his mother teaching him how to use a “KEWPIE” box camera as early as 1947; he still has the camera today.
“My mother and I occasionally walked on the farm. Mom was relentless in explaining the spectacles of nature. Upon the evening hours, we herded the cows in to be milked. Along the way I occasionally paused to observe the amazing 'tumble bugs' and found them to be a most interesting subject matter for close-up photography.”
Visit Peace Happens at the Deines Cultual Center from November 2nd through the end of December to view the exhibit's full collection of Reineke's photography.
